Codehouse has put together a new website for the ICAEW to help candidates explore career opportunities within accountancy. The website breaks down the barrier to the esoteric world of accounting and presents concrete and comprehensible career building blocks.
The ICAEW has launched a new website to help open up the world of accountancy for interested parties. What might be considered an abstract term or a career path which is hard to fully comprehend is presented in a clear language with an extensive list of cases. Titles such as ACA (Associate of the ICAEW) are shown as real people in the real world who have chosen to make accountancy their career. Also, and just as important, the website describes, in more ways than one, how you can acquire the ACA title.
From a technical point of view (which is the domain in which we like to think that we excel) the website is built on the leading Sitecore Content Management System (CMS) which is in turn based on Microsoft's ASP.NET framework. An interesting Web 2.0 feature of this site is the integration to Facebook making it easy for visitors to share pages from the website with their friends on the social networking site.
The Careers site is the first part of a larger project to move all of the ICAEW's web activities over to the same Sitecore CMS platform. This will give the ICAEW web editors a technologically up-to-date CMS where they have full control of the content on their entire web presence.
