So what is Language Fallback?
Language Fallback enables Sitecore XP8.1 to ‘fallback’ to a default language that doesn’t have a relevant language version. For example, because Arabic is a partially localised language, fallback options could be either English, French or both. This particular multiple fallback feature is known as ‘chained fallback’ i.e. if a value isn’t found in the fallback language, Sitecore falls back to a third, fourth or fifth option, and so on…
Language Fallback is fully configurable on the granular level, whereby Sitecore items, fields and templates can have fallback enabled.
- Granular fallback control of items and fields
- Configurable site-level and template fields
- Language fallback rules
- Language selector indicates which languages have fallback versions enabled
- Versions selector on a fallback item displays the corresponding message
