Goals in Sitecore are measured with a Value per Visit metric in Sitecore Analytics. This is based on the average Engagement Value (EV) per visit.

EV is the value you assign to your Sitecore goals, The more important the goal, the higher the value. For example, you may want to allocate 100 points to an online purchase as it’s the most important goal, whereas a newsletter subscription may have 10 points allocated.

The Value per Visit metric gives you meaningful insights. It allows you to make data driven decisions based on how your visitors engage with your website and consume content.

If you're not making the most out of this feature, you should be. If you are, then it's likely that not much planning has gone into the process, and that's okay because we understand the realities of business in the modern competitive market.

Up to ten goals used to be recommend by Sitecore, but times have changed. Due to many moving parts to each business and different online and offline channels used to achieve objectives, more than 10 are most likely needed. But no matter how many goals you have, the important thing is to organise and structure them.
