Sitecore's drive to improve the user and visitor experience continues with the release of the Sitecore Experience Platform (XP) 10.1.
Deliver exceptional experiences to your end-users and website visitors. Consider upgrading to Sitecore XP 10.1.
What does Sitecore 10.1 offer?
The release of Sitecore 10 last year saw the introduction of many features. For example, better analytics reporting, deployment to containers, headless development, Sitecore AI auto personalisation as standard, and improved site authoring and workflows.
Add integration capabilities with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and better headless services, and Sitecore 10.1 has even more enhanced and new benefits:
- Improved upgrade process
- Content profiling
- Infrastructure and configuration
1. Improved upgrade process
Upgrade efficiency has been a staple Sitecore benefit. Version 10.1 is no different. The inclusion of a new upgrade technology makes the upgrade process a lot more efficient. This results in a quicker version turnaround.
The in-page editor has a new feature that allows content editors to create and edit data source items.
Content editors can edit link fields, number fields, checklists, and drop-down menu fields. Items and their respective sub-items can also be published directly in Horizon.
The interface has also been enhanced with search functionality. Content editors can use Horizon to search for content items, pages, and media items.
3. Content profiling
In Sitecore 10.1 marketers can assign profile cards to multiple items. This is because of the introduction of new conditions and rules for marketing definition mapping.
The calculation of the Contact Behaviour Profile facet has also been refactored. Previously, only the profile scores from the latest visitor interaction were kept. In version 10.1 the calculated facets contain the aggregated profile scores from all visitor interactions.
There are three new/improved features to Sitecore Forms. The first is the ability to create an autocomplete list of available CSS class options for each field type. The second is a new ‘Send Email’ submit action, and the third is better form field validation.
In Sitecore 10.1 developers can configure how Solr functions when an operation fails. Another addition is the ability for developers to programmatically test the Solr service's availability.
6. Infrastructure and configuration
To reduce hosting overheads, the Experience Database (xDB) Reporting role has been combined with the Content Management role.
xConnect in Sitecore 10.1 includes a Scalable Reads feature. This allows developers to offload the primary database from read-only workloads using one of the read-only/secondary copies.
For cleaning up unused analytical data, there’s a new Data Purge tool.
