Personalising content in Sitecore has been present for many years. Over time it has become more streamlined so content managers can see in greater detail the effect of contextualised content. Now automated personalisation is here.

In Early 2021 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Auto Personalisation Standard for Sitecore 10 was released.

With the Sitecore AI Extension installed you can see all personalised experiences. These are visible via the relevant tab in Experience Optimisation.

The automated personalisation dashboard allows users to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to AI powered personalisation.

Once installed, the dashboard displays two important graphs that visualise meaningful data insights:

  • Daily interactions: These graphs display the interactions and unique contacts, auto-personalised pages, and page components including their active variants
  • Weekly interactions: Display weekly data like bounce rates per auto-personalised pages

Daily interactions

These fall into two categories:

  1. Interactions and unique contacts
  2. Average total EV on ML interactions

1. Interactions and unique contacts

The 'x' axis (date) and 'y' axis (count of interactions, website, and unique contacts.) visualise how well your personalised pages are performing.

You can toggle between 'Interactions' or 'Unique Contacts'. You can also filter by date to gain a better understanding on the effectiveness of AI personalisation.

2. Average total EV on machine learning (ML) interactions

This graph shows the average engagement value (EV) achieved by users visiting at least one page. But it’s not just a normal page. It’s a page applied with machine learning algorithms, or machined learned interactions, i.e. auto-personalised content.

The 'x' axis (date) and 'y' axis (average EV) show the performance of personalised pages in relation to engagement value.

Weekly interactions

Like daily interactions, these fall into two categories:

  1. Average trailing EV per variation for selected component
  2. Bounce rate per auto-personalised page

1. Average trailing EV per variation for selected component

This graph displays the weekly average trailing engagement value per variant of each page component.

Up to 20 components can be 'trained' in Sitecore AI auto-personalisation. Over 20, and Sitecore’s engine will randomly select another component variant to display.

To view these components select either 'Trained components' or 'Random components' from the dropdown selector.

For multiple websites running AI personalisation you must select the relevant website from the dropdown selector.

The 'x' axis represents each variant of the component (selected via a drop-down list). The 'y' axis the average trailing engagement value.

2. Bounce rate per auto-personalised page

This metric is the bounce rate for pages with automated personalisation.

It is the percentage of website visitors who navigate away from the site after a single page view (PV). The 'x' axis shows the page name and the 'y' axis the bounce rate.
